THE FIRST MANAGEMENT MEETING OF THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On Wednesday, 25th January, 2023 Heads of Department and Units was invited to the first Management Meeting of the District Assembly. The meeting was organized at the District Chief Executive’s Office.

The Agenda discussed was on Internal Generated Fund (IGF) – Revenue performance as at 31st December, 2022, update on printing and distribution of 2023 revenue bills and 2022 performance contract. 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT ABONO – 2023

As part of effects to deepen democracy through citizenship participation and involvement in the process of local government, the District Assembly organized a Community engagement programme with the people of Abono on Tuesday, 24th January, 2023 at the Abono – Lakeside.

The occasion was graced with the present of the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Heads of Department, Nana Abonohenbe and Elders, Abono Assemblyman, All Unit Committee Members.

A DAY TRAINING PROGRAM ON FIXED ASSETS REGISTER TEMPLATE AND DATA COLLECTION

As part of an initiated action by the Administrator-General to update official records of state assets and properties and to incorporate same into the 2022 Annual Nation Accounts of Ghana, a template has been developed to facilitate the submission of the records.

Due to the above mentioned the Assembly organized a day training program on the completion of the template and data collection on Monday, 16th January, 2023 at the Assembly’s Conference Hall, Kuntanase.

38TH DISTRICT FARMERS’ DAY CELEBRATION – 2022

The year’s edition of the District Farmers’ Day Celebration was celebrated on Friday, 2nd December, 2022 at Oyoko Community Park in the Bosomtwe District Assembly. The theme for the year was “Accelerating Agricultural Development Through Value addition”.

the celebration was marked with Agricultural Fair and various awards was distributed to Farmers who contributed in providing food, raw materials for industries and foreign exchange for the Country.

ORIENTATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICERS ON THE USE OF NOISE CALIBRATION INSTRUMENT

With respect to the recent complaints in the District on noise pollution, the assembly deemed it necessary to help minimize this nuisance. On the 29th and 30th November, 2022 an orientation seminar was organized for the Environmental Health Officers of the Bosomtwe District Assembly on how to use the newly purchased noise calibration instrument. Two (2) officers from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s Noise Control Unit were invited to carry out this orientation exercise for the aforementioned officers.

HANDING OVER OF HOSPITAL BEDS BY REGIONAL MINISTER

On Thursday, 10th November, 2022 the Hon. Regional Minister (Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah) visited the Bosomtwe District Assembly to donate some hospital beds to some Health Centres in the District. The hospital/health centre that benefited included Kuntanase Government Hospital, ST. Michael Hospital-Pramso and Jachie Health Centre. The Regional Minister was accompanied by the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Deputy Director/Assistants, Assembly Members and all Heads of Department.

SOD CUTTING ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE MODERN APUTUOGYA MARKET AND LORRY PARK

In fulfillment of the development of the proposed Aputuogya Market and Lorry Park, a sod cutting ceremony was organized on 8th November, 2022 at the market centre to commence with the construction of the Modern Aputuogya Market and Lorry park through a Build Operation Transfer (BOT) concept under Public Private Partnership.  The ceremony started at the Chief’s palace and ended at the place of construction. The project is expected to be completed in 24 months and it will be done in phases.

AGRICULTURE COMMITTEE MEETING ON THE UPCOMING FARMER’S DAY

The Agriculture Committee of the Bosomtwe District Assembly met on 24th October, 2022 at the District Chief Executive’s Office organized a meeting to deliberate on the upcoming Farmers Day. The Committee members consisted of the District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, District Police Commander, District Fire Commander, District Agriculture Director, Assistant Directors, and Assembly Members in the Committee. Itinerary was drafted for the program for decision making and further action.

2023 COMPOSITE BUDGET HEARING

The 2023 composite Budget Hearing was held on Friday, 28th October, 2023 at the Methodist Church Conference Room – Bekwai. The main purpose of the hearing was to renew the Assembly’s 2023 Composite Budget, revenue and expenditure performance and the target set and the Fee Fixing Resolution taking into cognizance Government policies and strategies as well as the Budget Preparation Guidelines made by the Ministry of Finance.

HIV EDUCATION AND SCREENING (KNOWN YOUR STATUS) AT APUTUOGYA, KUNTANASE AND JACHIE MARKETS

As part of effort to improve quality health service to the populace, a team from the Health Directorate and District Assembly involved themselves to sensitize the market traders on the killer beast and threat to the lives of humanity which is HIV/AIDS.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

On Wednesday, 26th October, 2022 the Bosomtwe District Assembly conducted their last Executive Committee Meeting at the Assembly’s Conference Hall. Members deliberated on the Drafted 2023 Composite Budget, 2023 Fee Fixing Resolution and 2023 Revenue Improvement Action Plan after a presentation. Various Sub-Committees reports was also presented and discussed for onwards submission to the General Assembly Meeting.

STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON THE PROPOSED APUTUOGYA MARKET AND LORRY PARK

As part of the responsibilities of the District Assembly to provide a conducive place for all market men and women, the Aputuogya market Committee and relevant Stakeholders scheduled a meeting on Monday, 10th October,2022 at the District Assembly Conference hall to deliberate on matters concerning the construction of the market and the lorry park.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITH STAKEHOLDERS AT EDWINASE (DAY 2)

Day 2 of the Community Engagement was organized at Edwinase on Tuesday, 11th October, 2022. The exercise was conducted for community members to educate them on the district fee fixing and to encourage them to pay their property and business operating permits. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WITH STAKEHOLDERS IN KUNTANASE ELECTORAL AREA (DAY 1)

The Bosomtwe District Assembly as part of their responsibilities to intensify on the socio-economic growth of the district, the District had an engagement with stakeholders in the Kuntanase Electoral Area on Monday, 10th October, 2022 at the area council. The meeting was organized for all market men and women, drivers, traders, welders, station masters, and all people engaged in businesses to deliberate on matters they were encountering in their business and also to educate them of certain issues such as the necessity of paying rates.

MEDICAL SCREENING FOR FOOD VENDORS AND HANDLERS

This medical screening exercise was carried out to halt the series of transmissible diseases being conveyed from person to person through food-borne or related activities. This screening exercise was targeted at fighting the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and Samonella typhii. Hepatitis B, which is caused by fasciola gigantica spp. and fasciola hepatica spp., can be passed on when one comes into contact with the sweat of an infected person, among others.
