BECE MONITORING

Ghana Education Service in August, 2023 stated the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the District Assembly. The exercise stated on 7th August, 2023 to 11th August, 2023.

The District Coordinating Director of the Bosomtwe District Assembly took the opportunity to visit some nearby schools in the district to monitor the progress of the exercise and conducts of the students.

COMMISIONING OF 1NO. 6-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK WITH OFFICE AND ANCILLARY FACILITIES SAWUA D/A PRIMARY SCHOOL

In order to improve education in the District, the Hon. Member of Parliament and Minister of Education, the Hon District Chief Executive, the Chief of Sawua and his subjects held a gathering to commission a newly constructed 1No. 6-Unit Classroom Block with office and Ancillary facilities at Sawua D/A Primary School.

THE SRC WEEK CELEBRATION OF BOSOMTWE GIRLS’ STEM HIGH SCHOOL.

The Students Representative council’s 2023-week celebration of Bosomtwe Girls’ High School which was in collaboration with the Bosomtwe District Assembly’s Environmental Health Unit happened on the 31st July,2023 to the 5th August,2023.  The aid/topmost priority of the SRC Week’23 celebration was to enlighten students on every aspect of health issue associated with the environment in the critical stage of a young lady’s life.

BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 19th July, 2023 held their Budget Committee Meeting at the District Conference Hall. The meeting discussed the 2023 Mid-Year Review and Other Matters.

The meeting invited the District Coordinating Director and all Heads of Departments/Units. The meeting ended successfully with all matters discussed.

PRESIDENTIAL COVID-19 AWARD CEREMONY

As part of recognition to the role played by distinguished individuals in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic during its peak period in 2020 and 2021, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo shown his appreciation to those selfless individuals in the district through signed certificate.

COMPLEMENTARY BASIC EDUCATION (CBE) INCEPTION STAKEHOLDER MEETING

The LINK Community Development Ghana on Monday, 3rd July, 2023 held a stakeholder meeting at the District Assembly Conference Hall. The aim of the meeting was to discuss and address important matters related to a successful implementation of Complementary Basic Education in the district.

TREE PLANTING DAY

The Bosomtwe District Assembly had the opportunity to participate in the Tree Planting Day. This activity was organized by the government through the Ghana Forestry Commission and was held on Friday, 9th June, 2023 at the forecourt of the District Court Bosoktwe District Assembly. As part of the activities to mark the day in the District, the Assembly together with the Forestry Commission officially plant some trees in the District Capital, Kuntanase.

THE FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE FOURTH SESSION OF THE EIGHTH ASSEMBLY OF THE BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the eighth assembly of the bosomtwe district assembly was organized on Friday, 9th June, 2023 at the Assembly’s Conference Hall, Kokoado. The meeting touched on Reading, Correction and Acceptance of previous minutes, Matters Arising, DCE Sessional Address, Executive Committee’s Report, Discussion and Adoption of Executive Committee’s Report, Ratification of Board of Survey report on Assembly’s obsolete vehicles and equipment and Other Matters. Previous minutes dated 31st October, 2022 was discussed at the meeting.

CONSOLIDATING CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY

As part of the Natioinal Commission for Civic Education activities to commemorate it annual Citizenship Week Celebration, the Bosomtwe District Office on 6th June, 2023 engaged the students of the Kuntenase D/A on the theme; ‘’30 years of Consolidating Constitutional Democracy; Building National Cohesion. The Role of a Child’’.

SENSITIZATION ON CITIZEN GENERATED DATA

The District Technical Team for the Citizen Generated Data organized a 15days publicity on Gender-Based Violence and Solid Waste Management to the major adjourning communities to sensitize the citizens on the use of CGD applications (LET’S TALK GHANA & CLEANAPP GHANA). The Citizens were been educated on how to use the applications to address cases on Gender Based Violence and Solid Waste Management.

SECOND MANAGEMENT MEETING OF BOSOMTWE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

Bosomtwe District Assembly held their second management meeting on Monday, 29th May, 2023 at the District Chief Executive’s office. The meeting was graced with the presence of the District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, and All Heads of Departments/Units of the District Assembly.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY CELEBRATION

Menstrual hygiene is crucial for women's well-being, as poor practices can lead to reproductive tract infections (RTIs). Lack of knowledge often contributes to this issue. On May 26, 2023, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, along with the District Education Directorate, organized a Menstrual Hygiene Day. It was sponsored by SUMDA Ghana Limited, with over 5,000 menstrual pad donations and support from the Bosomtwe District Assembly.

LAUNCHING OF THE GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME.

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) collaborated with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR) to scale up the Citizens Generated Data pilot project in two thematic areas of Gender-Based Violence and Solid Waste Management and held a 2-day training for members.

A TWO (2) DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR DISTRICT TECHNICAL TEAMS ON CITIZENS GENERATED DATA

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR) scaled up the Citizens Generated Data pilot project in two thematic areas of Gender-Based Violence and Solid Waste Management. Some members were selected as member of the District Technical Team (DTT), whose mandate is to ensure the implementation and execution of the Citizen-Generated Data scale up project.

PUBLIC EDUCATION AND SENSITIZATION ON THE 3-TIER PENSIONS SCHEME

The Assembly in collaboration with the National Pension Regulatory Authority (NPRA) embarked on a Public Education and Sensitization program on the benefits of joining the 3-Tier pension scheme and other related matters in the Bosomtwe District.

SENSITIZATION ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AT THE ORIENTATION CEREMONY OF BOSOMTWE GIRLS STEM SCHOOL

Gender-Based Violence refers to harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms. Gender–based violence is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue. It is estimated that one in three women will experience sexual or physical violence in their lifetime. During displacement and times of crisis, the threat of Gender Based Violence (GBV) significantly increases for women and girls.

DISTRICT PLANNING CO-ORDINATING UNIT MEETING

In fulfilment of Act 936 Section 85 (a) and (b) of the Local Government Act 2016, members of the District Planning Co-ordinating Unit (DPCU) were invited on Thursday, 13th April, 2023 to their first meeting at the District Conference Hall. The meeting discussed Presentation of Departmental Report for 1st quarter, 2023, Submission of Departmental Annual Report (2022) and Other Matters.

A DAY WORKSHOP ON EXPANSION OF GREATER KUMASI METROPOLITAN ASSEMBLY PROJECT ON HOUSEHOLD TOILET FOR THE URBAN POOR.

Officers from Environmental Health Unit of the Bosomtwe District attended a training workshop towards effective implementation of the Greater Kumasi Water and Sanitation project which has been expanded to include eight (8) districts. Fifty (50) officers from four (4) MMDAs participated in the workshop which included Bosomtwe District Assembly, Bekwai Municipal Assembly, Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly and Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly. The training was organized at Micklin Hotel – Danyame on 15th March, 2023.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING

The Bosomtwe District Assembly on Wednesday, 15th March, 2023 held their Finance and Administration Sub-Committee meeting at the District Assembly Conference Hall. The meeting started at about 10:38am with opening remarks.

The meeting discussed the 2022 Financial Performance of the Assembly, Revenue collection strategies for 2023, Annual Report on Administration Issues and other business.

HEALTH EDUCATION AT BOSOMTWE GIRLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

On Monday 13th March, 2023, a team of four facilitators from The Bosomtwe District Assembly Environmental Health office embarked on a day health education at Bosomtwe Girls Senior High School at Deduako during their orientation held within the week. REPORT ON BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING

A CLEAN-UP EXERCISE HELD AT APUTUOGYA MARKET

On Wednesday, 22nd February 2023, Environmental Health Officers of the Bosomtwe District Assembly were invited to honor a clean-up exercise organized by National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana. Three Environmental Health Officers in the persons of Ms. Priscilla Naa Ayorkor Tetteh, Ms. Hanaan Appiadu Boateng, and Ms. Mabel Azure attended the program. The theme of the clean-up exercise was “Good Sanitation”.
